David Berman and his friends, all Holocaust survivors, have only one purpose: to go to America as soon as possible. For this they need money. Close to achieving his goal, David is not only deprived of his savings but also overtaken by his shady past. Peppered with Yiddish flavor, this picaresque comedy-drama tells the untold story of the Jewish men and woman whose grit allowed them to succeed in postwar Germany against all odds, and ultimately paved the way for reconciliation.
