Antisemitism and discrimination in the United States made life uncomfortable for Jews in the 1930's, and - in unison with Hitler's propaganda machine - placed a share of the blame for the coming 1919war on the Jews. Anti-Jewish rhetoric from social elites Henry Ford and Charles Lindberg was everywhere, and discrimination was omnipresent. Nonetheless, Americans Jews responded to the outbreak of war with an overwhelming determination to fight for the country they loved. Through his interviews with over 30 Jewish war veterans, director Alan Feinberg reveals how Jews volunteered in large numbers for the U.S. Army Air Corps, the branch of service with the highest mortality rate in the first part of the war.

Guest Speaker - Director Alan Feinberg
Born in Buffalo, New York in 1946, Alan is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He continued his studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he pursued color theory and processing as well as fine art photography. His documentary “Bagels Over Berlin” is the result of a three year project from planning to completion wherein he focuses a spotlight on the Jewish Army Air Corps veterans who became American war heroes fighting for their county in World War II.
